Tribute

  • 105,000 miles
I am a teacher. I was on my way to work. I put my foot on the gas peddle and it was stuck. I quickly pushed the break, put the car in neutral and was able to pull over. I remember hearing about this with Toyota so I pulled up my carpet thinking it might be that. I started back on my way to work and the peddle was not stuck at this point but still 'sticky'. I realized it was not the carpet at all, the pedal was the issue! after work I was trying to pull out of my parked spot. My gas pedal got stuck again. My car was accelerating on its' own. I tried the brake it would not help. I put it in neutral and it slowed down. I was finally able to stop the car. I got out of the car to see what was going on and could not figure it out. I got back in the car and tried again, it was still stuck. This was so bad because not only was it dangerous for me, I am a teacher and the students walk through the parking lot all the time. It was dangerous for everyone. I called the Mazda dealer ( I have a 2006 Tribute) asking if there was a recall, they said no. I came home and found that many people had this same problem (the Ford escape is the same as my car) their gas peddle gets stuck!!! this is horrible, common, and dangerous.

Brake failure, brake pedal goes down to the floor. Happened out of no were. Brake pads and drums are in good shape do not need to be replaced. Replaced master cylinder and left wheel cylinder due to bleeder broker. Neither of these have resolved problem. Vehicle still not repaired issue unknown.

Brake rotor failure (original equipment) on a vehicle with a little over 60K miles. Rear routers found not only unable to be 'turned', but were advised needed to be replaced for safety reasons. Was advised that front routers were also wearing exceptionally fast. I live in a mostly flat part of the country and drive mostly highway miles.

I was having my brakes replaced by my boyfriend. He was using the jack to raise the vehicle up to take the tire off to change the brakes. He raised the vehicle, removed the tire and then without warning the jack collapsed and bent. The vehicle fell to the concrete. Luckily he wasn't under the vehicle at the time or he would have been killed.

Sale The contact owns a 2006 Mazda Tribute. While attempting to parallel park, the brake pedal extended to the floor. The contact noticed brake fluid leaking underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and they stated that the brake line appeared to have been cut out. The contact stated that this was impossible. The mechanic then speculated that the brake line may have become loose on its own. The dealer replaced both front brake lines. A week later, the vehicle was not braking properly. She took the vehicle back to the dealer, but they found no failures. The following day, while driving downhill at 10 mph, the brakes failed when the pedal was depressed. She managed to stop the vehicle and noticed that all of the brake fluid had leaked out again. The vehicle was towed to the mechanic and he stated that the same failure occurred, but only to the rear brakes. Both rear brake lines were replaced at that time. Currently, the rotors need to be replaced or regrounded. The contact stated that the rotors were replaced just before the failure occurred. Mazda was unhelpful with explaining the cause of the failure. The contact believes that a recall should be issued so that the failure does not recur in two years. The failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 95,000.

Tribute

  • 47,000 miles
My 2006 Tribute has 47,000 miles. The ABS light came on-and stayed on, and the 4WD light flashed on and off 3 or 4 times about every mile. Our dealer inspected and found it was a broken part in the front axle, which was under warranty. They kept the car overnight and replaced it. I asked if we could expect this to happen to the other axle and they could not give a definitive answer. Even more troubling is the fact that now the car pulls to the right. Their mechanic noted in his repair report, but they didn't bother to tell us about it because he said it was nothing he did. When something like and axle is involved, shouldn't an alignment be part of the service' and aren't they at least morally obligated to tell me that the car 'pulls' now'

The back brakes were inspected and they were worn down to 5% versus the front brakes still having over 50% left. The car only has 39K miles. The back brakes and rotors had to be replaced - not sure if this is going to correct the problem as we were told by the mechanic that it is unusual to replace the back brakes and rotors before the front.
